Ode To Blackrock Tower

by Brendan Mahon

Pictured in the distance

Often seen in the Newspapers

Visions of long hot summers

Yellow paint fading a bit

Long years of sun and sea

The heat of Salthill

Swimmers line up to dive

The shore thick with people

This place could tell stories

Of summers gone by

Love stories illicit and other

Kick the wall after walking the prom

An old tradition

Still kept up today

Oh, tower sweet tower

You will be there

Long after we are all gone

Glistening in the sun

Strong against the mighty ocean

Of Galway Bay
