As Beauty Does

by Brendan Martin

Beauty walks as beauty does,

In slow, steady steps across the floor;

Her smile contrasts her thoughtful gaze

As she brushes past the door.

She ambles confidently,

Reassured being calm;

All the while she watches me,

Knowing who I am.

And knowing who she is herself,

Her calmness shows no fear;

She purposely walks with measured steps,

Measured space, and measured time,

No panic; no haste; no wasted energy,

Yet still she ends up here!
