Cowboys

by Mary Egan Campbell

Tragedy of fools
Men not boys with guns
Who think it’s a game
To shoot as you run

Fired up and ready
Blood lust in their eyes
Power hungry puppets
Deciding who dies

Frightened mothers and children
Fathers brothers and sons
Armed and masked cowards
Make everyone run

They’ve started war on our streets
In the guise of enforcing law
Killing innocent citizens
But this time everyone saw

Change needs to happen
To melt the ice in their veins
Expose the greed driven chaos
So peace can once again reign
