Friend or Faux

by Mary Egan Campbell

How fake the fame

The glittering starlit lot

Faux dalliances, curating the custom match

So far detached from the ‘have nots”

Friendships flail on the winners trail

Succumb to buyer’s remorse

Forced to compete for time in the limelight

Waging war over opportunities lost

And none so fickle as those female fiends

Fashionistas ever on the make

Paying lip service while they knife you

Their smiles, naught but pretty icing on bad cake
