You can hear the twig crack; you hold your breath and listen. Softly you place one
foot forward willing yourself into a feather-like creature, so light you can glide over
every twig and crunching leaf.
Fear builds up inside you as you slowly peer around the big oak tree. A leaf falls on
your head and you jump. You question yourself. “Did that make a sound?”
Through the sound of the heavy beat of your heart pounding in your ears you
really don’t know.
Calming yourself you peer around the tree again and with no one in your sight you
tiptoe to the next tree. “Ouch!!!” You slip off the big toes of a gracious tree as it
spreads out to tickle his tree friends within the woods. You freeze, as if someone
has pointed a weapon at you. Again, you try to listen over your thudding heart, you
will it to calm, to slow with silent breaths.
You turn to get up and you feel the hard slap of a hand on your shoulder. Time
stands still for all of two seconds, but it seems like ten.
You hear him roar in your ear.
“Tag!! You’re On!!!”
