An electrical light storm blew strong outside
And time was stretching across the winter night
Every roar of thunder now in concert with every contraction.
Everything was in motion – life coming into action.
The light would strike blue through those old windows
Like the sky police had arrived to escort your entry to this world
Those windows had seen a lot both ways
Tonight, these two acts of nature unfurled.
3:15am and the storm had reached apogee
You cried for the first time on your mother’s knee
The clouds parted now – their job done
A fanfare entrance like none
A bundle of Joy
A nurse said as she passed you to me
I see that last flash far out across the city
Whatever brought you here
Entrusted you with me.
I’ll be the best father I can be.
